GoFurry Turns One · Thank You for Being With Us Through Our First Year 🐾
From a hand-drawn prototype to a continuously maintained Furry navigation and game discovery platform, GoFurry has officially turned one. Here is a look back at our first year, what comes next, and a small anniversary giveaway to celebrate with everyone who has supported us along the way.

Today marks both China's National Day and the first anniversary of GoFurry.
We prepared a small gift for everyone, and we hope it brings you a little extra fun. ❤
Thank you for being with us throughout this past year.
Starting with almost no organic traffic, GoFurry once maintained the No. 1 search position for the furry keyword on both Bing China and Bing International for around six consecutive months, until indexing changes eventually brought that run to an end.
For a website that began as little more than a hand-drawn prototype, that was already far beyond what we imagined one year ago.
GoFurry is, at heart, a rather ordinary navigation site.
But it is also a Furry navigation project that we have always tried to operate as a public-interest service and maintain like a long-term product.
We started with a minimal hand-drawn page and have been working step by step toward one goal:
to build a more comprehensive and reliable navigation infrastructure for the Furry community.
GoFurry is open-source under the BSD-3-Clause License, following the same broad family of permissive open-source licenses used by projects such as e621.
We do not collect or relay visitors' sensitive information, and we continue to treat user experience, openness, and privacy protection as important responsibilities.
🐾 GoFurry's First Year
During our first year, we completed:
674 commits
31 merged pull requests
87 closed issues
26 officially recorded site updates
From network probes to crawlers;
from Tencent EO to Cloudflare;
from Vue to Nuxt;
from the traditional Prometheus + Grafana monitoring stack to a lighter Go-based observability system...
One year ago, GoFurry still looked much more like a student project.
Today, it has gradually grown into a product designed to be maintained for the long term.
What originally started as 3 services has evolved into a system made up of 7 services.
Throughout the year, we completed a large amount of engineering governance, infrastructure work, and technology migration.
We also established an independent development infrastructure environment accessible through VPN, allowing our development, testing, and production environments to become properly separated.
Most of this work will never be directly visible on the pages people visit every day.
But it is exactly this work that determines whether GoFurry can continue running reliably through its second year, its third year, and hopefully many more after that.
At the same time, we also started giving something back to the open-source community.
One example is:
gofurry/steam-go
An MIT-licensed Steam toolkit for Go.
Across our repositories and development records, you can also find engineering experience gathered from real-world problems, including:
Steam upstream endpoint changes, Store API rate-limit behavior, credential models, Steam ID models, VDF data structures, A2S communication, Web Sessions, and other advanced Steam-related capabilities.
We hope GoFurry will not only benefit from open source, but will also leave something useful behind for the open-source community.
There is also one small change that means a lot to us:
The GoFurry maintenance team has grown from 1 person to 2. 🐺
We are still a very, very small team.
But at least when something breaks now, there is another furry around to lose some hair with us.
🚀 Looking Ahead to 2027
The goal of our first year was simple:
make sure GoFurry could truly survive.
In our second year, we want to keep improving it carefully.
Some of the directions currently planned include:
- An official GoFurry desktop application, with mobile applications gradually explored afterward.
- A stable and open API Server, providing part of the public data maintained by GoFurry free of charge to eligible developers.
- A restrained and lightweight advertising system, with Furry-related advertising partnerships welcomed.
(Servers are basically a mortgage too.) - A broader GoFurry ecosystem, including an account system for our international services and more independent Furry websites and services.
None of these plans will come at the cost of the core navigation experience.
Navigation will remain the foundation of GoFurry.
🌱 Looking Further Ahead
If we look five years into the future, there is one thing we hope to eventually accomplish:
fully migrate from go-furry.com to gofurry.com.
We also hope to gradually give GoFurry a more formal and stable brand and operating entity, transforming it from a personally maintained public-interest project into something that can continue operating sustainably for many years.
It would be the final step in a journey that began with a single hand-drawn prototype.
Our first year is over.
We will keep writing code.
We will keep discovering and adding new websites.
We will keep maintaining infrastructure that most visitors will probably never notice.
And we will keep taking every problem worth solving seriously.
We hope GoFurry can continue bringing everyone a better experience in the year ahead.
Thank you to everyone who has used GoFurry, recommended it to someone else, reported a problem, shared an idea, or simply kept it quietly somewhere in their bookmarks.
Thank you for being with us through our first year.
Year Two begins now. 🐉
