v3.0.0-alpha.9

Game Recommendations and Experience Improvements

This release improves game tags and recommendations while refining homepage backgrounds, search, dark mode, asset loading, and GoFurry’s open-source collaboration.

Game Recommendations and Experience Improvements

This release brings a broad round of improvements to game discovery and the overall GoFurry experience.

The game tag system has been reorganized so genres, themes, and content attributes can be described more clearly. Using this information, similar-game recommendations have also been improved, with the goal of finding titles that are genuinely closer to the game you are viewing.

The Games section also improves:

  • Tag and category presentation
  • Search and pagination interactions
  • Game details and image browsing
  • Steam metadata prefill
  • Recommendation generation

The homepage background system is now more flexible, with random, fixed, and local background options, along with separate settings for desktop and mobile.

We have also refined dark mode, shared components, page layouts, keyboard interactions, and asset loading, while fixing a number of issues affecting game pages, search, and image presentation.

This release also completes the migration of GoFurry’s own source code and documentation to the BSD-3-Clause license, with clearer contribution, security, and content licensing guidelines for future open-source collaboration.

v3.0.0-alpha.9 is less about introducing one major new feature and more about refining what GoFurry has already built. As the amount of content continues to grow, we want the site to remain clear and reliable — and make finding your next game a little easier.
