Furry Weekend Atlanta (FWA) is the official promotional website for the eponymous furry convention in Atlanta, operated by a community-driven, volunteer-led nonprofit corporation organized under the Georgia Non-Profit Corporation Code. Its core mission is to provide memorable, educational, inclusive, and safe experiences for the furry community, encouraging individuals to explore and express their true selves while promoting the acceptance and appreciation of the anthropomorphic fandom in the Southeast and across the United States. Since its inauguration in 2004, the convention has grown steadily: initially held in February, it shifted to late March or early April in 2009, and has been hosted over Mother’s Day weekend since 2019, expanding to multiple hotels in downtown Atlanta. Attendance has grown from 270 attendees in 2004 to over 15,000 in 2024 (across 4 hotels and convention spaces), and it has raised substantial funds for charities—including $100,000 for its 2024 partner Lost and Found Youth—solidifying its status as one of the world’s largest furry conventions.
